Eastbourne (5) vs Southdown (0) (3/5/08)

A strong performance by Southdown against the high flying Cup and League winners. Good understanding of positions and working well together this was a great team effort, if Southdown work at their finishing these are games that will become too close to call. Staying in midfield Casey Dunford gave one of her best performances, Deanie Farr was quietly confident in defense, Emma Benson came on at half time to give an exciting game, whilst Rachel Hall and Grace Morgan continue to grow in strength and skill. Well done!

Southdown (1) vs Chipstead (4) (13/4/08)

Conceding a goal in the first few minutes Southdown quickly equalised with a superb stike by Captain Casey Dunford and were on top in the first half, despite missing a number of chances by which they should have finished the game off. In the second half however Southdown faded away and lost their shape, leading to several soft goals, underlining the importance of keeping positions. Nevertheless the defenders showed confidence and ability in supporting one another, especially Shabnam Gould and Deanie Farr, while Hannah Booth showed her dominance in the air. Molly Lavender did well as stand in Keeper but overall chances were not taken in the first half and a disappointing performance in the second half in a game Southdown should have won.

Jarvis Brook (5) vs Southdown (0) (League) (29/3/08)

An excellent performance from Southdown against a very good Jarvis Brook team on a very windy day. Vicky Budgen coming back from injury was confident in goal, while Hannah Mansbridge did well in her first League match. Shabnam Gould was strong in defence and overall there was some good passing by the entire team who had several chances on goal. Well done.

Southdown (8) vs Paddock Wood Mixed (0) (8/3/08)

A confident performance with a well deserved result. Zoe Banks playing as right wing caused constant problems and scored 4 goals, Lizzie Swyer (2) and Casey Dunford (2). Grace Nye worked hard throughout and was solid in midfield and it was good to welcome Leah Adams back from injury. Southdown showed great awareness and the game was characterised by intelligent passing by the whole team.

Southdown (6) vs Paddock Wood (2) (League) (8/3/08)

A confident display by Southdown with 4 goals from on form striker Lizzie Swyer (including a perfectly executed header from a corner) and 2 goals from captain Casey Dunford. The team showed good incisive passing and intelligent play throughout. Defender Georgia Root was dominant both in defence and in bringing the ball forward while Amey Townsend continues to grow in ability and match performance.

Southdown (0) vs Uckfield (5) (Cup) (9/2/08)

An encouraging performance by Southdown in their first match since mid December. Organised in defence Southdown also showed the results of hard work in training when taking corners on the attack. Shabnam Gould gave a great perfomance in defence, Rachel Hall was unlucky not to score and Casey Dunford gave a captain's performance. Vicky Budgen showed great improvement in goal.
Against a very good Uckfield team Southdown were let down by a few lapses of concentration and the quickness of a number of the Uckfield players. Unlucky with the final scoreline of 0-5 Southdown gave a good solid performance and never stopped trying. A great effort and a great game to watch.

Chipstead (4) vs Southdown (2) (15/12/07)

A very creditable performance by Southdown and two fine goals by Lizzie Swyer, who threatened throughout, and an assist from Casey Dunford. Georgia Root was strong in defence, Molly Lavender and Rachel Hall gave promising performances down both wings, and Southdown continue to show growing skills and team work. A great game to watch it could have gone either way up until the last few minutes when Chipstead scored again to make the final score 4-2.
